Why do I need window locks?

Do I have windows locks on my windows already?

Possibly many modern windows such as double glazed or UPVC have a key operated lock fitted as standard, however some of the older style windows such as crittall windows, sash windows and wooden casement windows have no locks and are required to have a lock fitted for validation of insurance. 

I don’t think a lock can be fitted on my window.
