Key broken in lock
It seems to be the time of year where keys are getting broken in locks. Why is this you may ask, well its hard to say as usually I put it down to the cold, however the Winter hasn’t been too bad so far so perhaps its the dark and people are turning their keys at the wrong point.
The main reason keys get snapped of is because the cuts are too deep. When a key has a real deep cut this will be a weak point in the key and will make it vulnerable to having it snap off.
Okay I know what your thinking? My key has been snapped of in my lock and I want to know how to get it out, right? Well the best thing will always be to call an approved Locksmith. But there are a couple of ways you can try if this is not possible.
Long nose pliers-if you are lucky you might be able to grip the end of the key with some long nose pliers.
Another key: If you have a spare key and your key is stuck in the end of a euro cylinder-its possible to push the key out from the other side of the lock.
However-the experts are at hand and sometimes its best to get a locksmith to do the work for you.
