Locks for your tennants
When we deal with most landlords about locks for their tennants the 1st thing we quite often hear is "we want the cheapest lock….nothing too flash!" Whilst we and all reputable London Locksmiths cater for all in the case of a tennant cheaper is not always better, in fact on many occasions for just a few quid extra a Landlord could get the right type of Locks on their door without having to change them at a later date.
So what locks should you have? if you are renting out a whole house then it would be no different to your own property….ie 5 Lever British standard deadlock or equivilant. However if you are renting out a converted house then it is very important to have a means to escape on the communal door-a lock that requires a key from both sides of the door is a fire hazard and having one that is constantly in use could mean someone being locked on the house. We had a customer who once was locked in their office over night as they didn't have a key to leave their property….in another scenario someone could potentially loose their life!
So next time you speak to your local London Locksmith, ask them if they can get you a key and turn cylinder on the communal door-they will keep the security aspect high but most importantly your tennants safe!
