What to Do if you Need an Emergency Locksmith Over Christmas
Hopefully, you won’t find yourself locked out of your house around the Christmas period! I’m afraid it is possibly the worst time to need a locksmith to open a house door.
Lockout Locksmith Availability on Christmas Day
Not all, but most London locksmiths will not be operating a full service around Christmas and New Year. There are of course some locksmiths who don’t celebrate Christmas and will be on call but generally, the phones are much quieter on Christmas day with just a few emergency calls. This year IKS will be closed from 23rd December to 29th December. From 30th December until New Years Day we will be running an emergency locksmith service only. Full locksmith services for locks, security grilles and safes will resume on Thursday 2nd January.
Locksmith Cost Around the Christmas Holidays
Expect prices to be double the standard rate if you are locked out of your house and need to call a locksmith on Christmas Day or New Year. Many locksmiths may not cover the Christmas period and those who do will most likely charge a premium to come out. This post explains what an emergency locksmith should cost.
Locked Out on Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve
If someone calls me on Christmas Day or New Year and says “I’ve locked myself out of my house”, the first thing I will say is, “Can you stay somewhere else for the night?”
Usually when I explain the cost implications people will try to think of someone they can stay with. However, of course it is not always possible for everyone to do that. We will always try our very best to help.

You may have no other option but to call a locksmith to get you back into your house. If this is the case choose a trustworthy locksmith!
