Professional Security Safe Installation….. The IKS Locksmiths Approach
As a Locksmith it’s not just locks that I deal with. I am also a locksmith for safes and bespoke security grilles. Locks, Safes and Security Grilles are the areas that IKS Locksmiths specialise in. I always believe that specialising in an area, rather than diversifying into too many product areas, will achieve the best results.
In my last post I covered the nitty gritty of how we approach fitting of Bespoke Security Grilles . In this post I will explain how I manage the Security Safes side of my business.
We are proud to be one of a small percentage of Master Locksmith Association (MLA) approved locksmiths specialising in security safe installation in London. It is shocking that there are so many locksmiths in London that aren’t approved, qualified or CRB checked. Surprising for an area as sensitive as security! It is something to be very wary of when choosing a locksmith.
I enjoy the safes side of the business. It is a case of finding the right safe for the individual customer. Each situation is different, whether we are installing a home safe or a commercial safe it is important to assess the situation and customers requirements thoroughly.
This is how IKS Locksmiths manage the process of security safe installation;
Step 1: Site Survey
Primarily a site survey will be conducted. On this visit we will establish;
- Where is the most suitable place to install a safe in your home
- The type of safe
We ask the customer questions which can seem intrusive but are vital when it comes to choosing the right safe for the circumstances and the right location in the property. We would need to know exactly what the customer plans to keep in the safe and the value it will hold. Don’t worry we won’t be contacting the Inland Revenue if it is a substantial amount of cash! Safes come with a cash rating and it is important that the customer invests in the correct safe.
Step 2: Presenting the Options
Next we discuss the safe types and possible locations with the customer. A safe may be fitted to a concrete floor or joist on the ground or to an external wall. Wall safe installation may be preferable in some situations. Advising on the most suitable safe type and location is something that we are well qualified to offer advice on. It is important to get it right when it comes to investing in a safe.
Step 3: Provide a Quote
On agreement of the quote suitable fitting dates are discussed.
Step 4: Agree a Fitting Date
We will usually offer a morning or afternoon time slot.
Step 5: We Place the Order for the Safe
It is at this stage in the process that we take payment for the actual safe.
Step 6: Safe Delivery and Installation
This is a job for professional specialist safe installers and not a job for the inexperienced.
Step 7: Ensure the Property is Left Tidy
We thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area after fitting the safe. It is important that the customer is not inconvenienced.
Step 8: Checking the Customer is Happy
It is on completion and confirmation that the customer is happy that we take payment for the labour part of the job.
If you are considering installing a safe in your home in North London we would be delighted to visit your property do a no obligation site survey and present you with the options.
My next diary will be on how I manage the Emergency side of my job as a locksmith. In the meantime all comments and questions are very welcome.
